Indianapolis Zoo
Indianapolis Zoo is one of the main attractions for the tourists as well as for the children in this city. It is also known as Indy zoo. Indy Zoo was the first place in our list to visit in Indianapolis. The Zoo is located in White River State Park. Indy Zoo was opened in 1964 and plays a major role in worldwide conservation and research. We had a friend who was staying with his family in Indianapolis. Since his family had gone home for some family needs, he offered his house for us to stay. He had already visited the Zoo with his family earlier, and hence was eager to take us there. He also had a membership there. Hence, it was easier for him to take us to the most important places without wasting our time. The Indy zoo is home for more than 350 different species of animals, such as cheetah, elephants, gorillas, iguana, penguins, etc. There are endangered and threatened species also in the zoo. The botanical garden called White River Garden has over one thousand plant varieties and it is a great place to learn about various plants. In the Butterfly garden, there are several types of butterflies. Another great interesting place one should not miss in Indianapolis zoo is the Dolphin Show. There was also a Store in the Zoo which offered several attractive things from unique stuffed animal toys to customized jewelery. We saw several teachers with their students who had come from different parts of the State for education purpose. It was fun watching the anxious students asking their teachers questions one after other. Get more information about the Zoo
