Kentucky Horse Park
The Kentucky Horse Park,the only park of its kind in the world, dedicated to the man's relationship with the horse, is very popular. The park is set on twelve hundred acres area in the heart of the city and is home for many breeds of horses. At the entrance, there is the majestic Man o' War Memorial. There is a Visitor Center that shows films on the park and supplies information on particular activities and events. In the International Museum of the Horse, the largest of its kind in the world, visitors learn about what some believe to be the 55-million year history of the horse. Lot of horse racing history with winning trophies and artifacts are also exhibited. The horse lovers can learn a lot from this park and spend hours here.
The Kentucky Horse Center is a training center for thoroughbreds. There is an interesting Walking Farm Tour with demonstrations of the crafts of blacksmiths, wagoners, harness makers, and a parade of thoroughbreds. Horse lovers can enjoy trekking and rides in horse-drawn carriages. The Horse park offers something for visitors of all ages and interests. Rides such as Surrey rides, guided trail rides, and pony rides are available. The park also has a year-round, 260-site campground, a restaurant, and a great gift shop.
