Lexington KY Attractions

Lexington was my destination when I boarded the international flight from Mumbai. After long hours of journey, and changing two flights, I finally landed at the Blue Grass Airport in Lexington on a Friday evening. I was relieved when I saw my daughter and son-in-law eagerly waiting for me at the airport. As they drove me to their home, which was just few miles away, I looked around to see the beauty of the city with great enthusiasm.

Let me tell you a little about this beautiful city. Lexington is the second-largest city in Kentucky, and also the Horse Capital of the World. Lexington has a cultured lifestyle which earned the city nickname
"Athens of the West". This charming city is the seat of the University of Kentucky and an important economic and cultural center, in the heart of the Bluegrass County. Summers are hot and humid, and winters are cool with mild periods. It is a medium sized city with a combination of big city sophistication and down town home charm.

Though Lexington is not a great tourist destination, there are some interesting places worth visiting.

• Gratz Park

I also enjoyed visiting the Farmers' Market in summer.

There is a Hindu temple in Lexington which I used to visit. Many Indians visit this temple.
