Snowdonia Mountain Railway

A journey in Snowdon Mountain Railway is incredible. This journey will take you to the mighty Snowdon Mountain at 3,560ft (1085m). It is the highest mountain in England and Wales.

Started in 1896, reaching the mountain became very easy. Visitors come from around the world to experience this spectacular view. This is Britain’s highest rack railway. Snowdonia is rich in landscape, history and culture.

The train starts from Llanberis Station. Llanberis Station is at the foot of Mount Snowdon, on the A4086. Before the departure, a free audiovisual presentation ‘To The Summit of Snowdon’, is provided to all passengers in the Snowdon Theatre. On your way, the journey provides stunning scenery and awe-inspiring views. They include ancient oak forest, cascading waterfall, rocky valley and sheep studded hills. Weather permitting, the trains run from 9.00am every 30 minutes subject to passenger demand. The round trip takes 2 hours 30 minutes, which is including 30 minutes break on the summit.

The new Snowdon Summit Visitor Centre, Hafod Eryri, was opened in the year 2009. After enjoying your mountain top adventure, in the Snowdon Mountain Railway, you can relax through browsing through the wide range of quality gifts, souvenirs in the Station or can have a hot drink and a sandwich, in the Llanberis Cafe.

On a clear day you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Snowdonia National Park, Isle of Anglesey, and even as far as the Isle of Man.
