Our Visit to Barcelona Tourist Attractions - Our next trip was to see Barcelona Attractions in Spain. Barcelona is one of the most visited cities in the world. It is the capital city of Spain and the various attractions and great weather attract many tourists to this part of the world.
Located on the shores of the Mediterranean, Barcelona is the cosmopolitan capital of Spain's Catalonia region. This beautiful place is famous for its tourist attractions like unique architecture, culture, thriving port area, fascinating markets and the mouth watering Spanish cuisine.
Some of these top Tourist Attractions of Barcelona are not to be missed.
La Sagrada Familia - Designed by the famous architect Antoni Gaudi in 1882, this fabulous church is still in an unfinished state and the goal is to complete the Sagrada Familia in 2026 to mark the 100th anniversary of his death. This unique work is breathtaking and it is Barcelona's most famous tourist attraction and visited by 3 million visitors a year. The Sagrada Familia interior opened fully in 2012 and is worth a visit because it is like no other cathedral in the world.
La Rambla - This is Barcelona's most famous walking street. La Rambla is starting at central square Plaza Catalunya and ends at the Columbus monument at the Port Vell marina. it is not a spectacular attraction in any way, but very pleasant to stroll down and feel the human heartbeat of Barcelona. It is better to be careful about the pickpockets in this area.
Barcelona Cathedral -
La Pedrera - It is considered as the most iconic work of civic architecture of Antoni Gaudi, and it consists of two blocks of apartments with its separate entrance. The facade of La Pedrera is not a structural element, but is a curtain wall, connecting many blocks of stones to the structure by metal components. Get more details here.
Museu Picasso - Picasso Museum is permanent collection of Picasso's early years in Barcelona. Born in Malaga in the south of Spain, but the Picasso family moved to Barcelona in 1895 and he lived here until 1904. The museum is in several magnificent gothic mansions in the Born part of Barcelona's old city. The Museum exhibits a unique collection of 4000 works with early sketches and canvases of his work.
Museu Nacional dÁrt de Catalunya - The Museum sits atop a hill and looks like a massive castle than an art museum. The museum exhibits the greatest Catalan art from 10th to 20th centuries and impressive Romanesque murals that graced church apses and gothic art. The paintings of the great Spanish artists like El Greco and Velasquez are also in the gallery.
Apart from the above mentioned attractions, the beaches, sea ports and the markets are great tourist attractions in Barcelona, and one should visit these to know the real culture of this wonderful place.
