The Statue of Liberty is a magnificent statue which is a great tourist destination of New York. This National Monument was gifted by the people of France to the people of United States in recognition of the friendship established during the American Revolution.

This glorious statue was created by famous Sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi of France. The people of America built the pedestal and the French people brought the statue to America and assembled it there.

The statue, in 350 pieces, arrived in New York City by boat from France, in the month of June in 1885. The pedestal construction for the statue was completed in April 1886. Finally the statue was assembled on October 28, 1886. Since then the Statue stands as a beacon in New York Harbor.
