Lexington KY Attractions

Lexington KY Attractions - Lexington was my destination when I boarded the international flight from Mumbai. After long hours of journey, and changing two flights, I finally landed at the Blue Grass Airport in Lexington on a cool Friday evening.

The first place I landed in this amazing country was Detroit, where I was picked up by one of my relatives and spent sometime in their house, which was more than 30 miles away from the airport. Since my flight to Lexington was in the evening I had no time to go around in Detroit. They dropped me back on time in the airport to board my next flight to Lexington..

I was relieved when I saw my daughter and son-in-law eagerly waiting for me at the airport. As they drove me to their home, which was just few miles away, I looked around to see the beauty of the city with great enthusiasm.

Let me tell you a little about this beautiful city. Lexington is the second-largest city in Kentucky, and also the Horse Capital of the World. Lexington has a cultured lifestyle which earned the city nickname "Athens of the West". This charming city is the seat of the University of Kentucky and an important economic and cultural center, in the heart of the Bluegrass County. Summers are hot and humid, and winters are cool with mild periods. It is a medium sized city with a combination of big city sophistication and down town home charm.

Other Lexington KY Attractions

Apart from the above, when I was there, my children were eager to take me to the Farmer's Market. I enjoyed visiting the Farmers' Market in summer, as part of Lexington KY Attractions. The vegetables were grown organically and tastier than the ones bought from outside.

There is a Hindu temple in Lexington, which is called Bharathiya Hindu temple, which I used to visit occasionally. Many Indians visit this temple.  There are a few Indian restaurants in Lexington where we had enjoyed real Indian food.

Lexington offers a number of good hotels but I have not stayed in any of them.
